Surgical Group of North Texas –Types of Surgery

Types of Surgery

The surgeons at the Surgical Group of North Texas are highly-trained in many different types of surgery, offering compassionate care and a variety of surgical solutions for patients. Our surgeons are skilled in traditional open surgical procedures and in minimally-invasive procedures like laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality, compassionate care.

Bariatric (weight loss) surgeries offered by the Surgical Group of North Texas include gastric bypass, lap band and gastric sleeve. Gastric bypass reduces the size of the stomach, which is then attached to the middle of the small intestine. Lap band surgery entails the placement of a gastric band around the upper part of the stomach, and gastric sleeve surgery involves the removal of 60-80 percent of the stomach. All of these bariatric surgeries will help you lose weight by enforcing portion control and lessening your sensation of hunger.

The Surgical Group of North Texas also specializes in oncologic surgery, particularly breast cancer surgery. Procedures range from surgical breast biopsy to breast conservation therapy (BCT) surgeries such as lumpectomy, partial mastectomy or quadrantectomy. We also offer brachytherapy, a five-day breast cancer treatment. If a full mastectomy is needed, it can be performed with skin-sparing and nipple-preserving techniques if reconstruction surgery will soon follow.
